I seem to find myself making films about young people a LOT and thought it would be good to actually get them to help me do some – that way I’d be sure to get authentic voices. I’d recently come to London from New York and was shocked and upset by the number of injuries and deaths resulting from teenage knife crime. The government seemed to have no answers, and the media coverage was pretty black and white – pun intentional. It was just a small project, but one I’m really proud of, and I know those involved were chuffed to pieces with what they achieved too.
